Asian Arowana Aquarium
The Asian Arowana (Scleropages formosus) is a freshwater fish native to
Southeast Asia. They are often considered asa symbol of wealth and good
fortune, especially in Chinese culture, where it is called the "dragon fish"
due to its elongated body and large, metallic scales resembling a dragon.
They come in several color morphs, most notably red, gold, green, and
even blue. Arowanas have upward-facing mouths to catch prey at the
water’s surface. They can survive briefly out of water by using their gills
to extract oxygen from the air. Their keen eyesight helps them hunt insects,
fish, and crustaceans.
