Virtual Walk - Hluboká nad Vltavou Castle - Czech Republic
Hluboká nad Vltavou Castle is one of the most stunning and iconic castles in the
Czech Republic. Situated in the town of Hluboká nad Vltavou, the castle is renowned
for its fairy-tale beauty, neo-Gothic architecture and rich history.
Hluboká Castle was extensively remodeled in the 19th century inspired by England’s
Windsor Castle. The striking white facade, turrets, towers, and ornate detailing give
the castle a fairy-tale appearance, making it one of the most photographed landmarks
in the country.
Originally built as a royal hunting lodge in the 13th century, the castle underwent several
architectural transformations. It started as a Gothic fortress, later rebuilt in Renaissance
and Baroque styles, before taking on its current neo-Gothic form in the mid-19th century.
Surrounding the castle is a beautifully landscaped park in the English style, covering
around 190 hectares. The castle also features ornamental gardens filled with seasonal
flowers, fountains, and statues that enhance the romantic feel of the estate. The rose
garden is particularly popular with visitors.
