Virtual Walk - Apenheul - The Netherlands
Apenheul is a unique and beloved zoo located near Apeldoorn in the Netherlands.
Apenheul is located in the beautiful parkland of the Berg en Bos nature reserve,
just outside the city of Apeldoorn, in the province of Gelderland.
Apenheul is home to over 300 primates from around 35 different species. The zoo
focuses specifically on monkeys and apes, ranging from tiny marmosets to larger
species like gorillas and orangutans. One of Apenheul’s highlights is Gorilla Island,
home to a group of western lowland gorillas.
The zoo is located within a wooded park, making the setting feel more like a natural
reserve than a traditional zoo. Visitors can enjoy peaceful walks along the forested
paths, with opportunities to encounter wildlife in their naturalistic habitats.
