Cycling near Gruissan, along Le Salin de l’Île Saint-Martin, feels like travelling through a luminous, open landscape shaped by sea and wind. The path runs beside wide salt basins that shimmer in pale pink and blue, with the old village on one side and the quiet Étang d’Ayrolle on the other. Flamingos often stand in the shallow water, adding to the calm, almost unreal beauty of the place.

The salin stretches over 400 hectares, producing sea salt and oysters in a setting where nature and tradition meet. The route is peaceful and largely flat, inviting you to slow down and take in the wide horizons. Each turn reveals a new angle of the salt pans, the village, or the distant line of the Mediterranean.
